Bus service #92

New bus service from Aylesham to Whitfield - Route 92

Published 24/10/2025

From Monday 24th November, a new hourly bus service - Route 92 - will start running between Aylesham and Whitfield.

This service will replace Stagecoach Connect (the DRT on-demand service), which will finish on Saturday 22nd November.

Dover District Council, together with Stagecoach South East, has looked at how to keep bus links running for Aylesham and nearby villages.

The current Stagecoach Connect (DRT) service is subsidised through Section 106 developer funding from the Aylesham Garden Village development. To extend the funding for as long as possible, and to make sure local residents still have a bus connection, the service is being replaced by a new hourly timetabled route between Aylesham and Whitfield.

The new route

Route 92 will run every hour, linking Aylesham, Nonington, Elvington, Eythorne and Sandwich Road (Whitfield Tesco), Monday to Saturday (not Bank Holidays).

The route has been planned using information from the current DRT service, covering the most used pick-up and drop-off points.

The same minibuses will be used, so the service can still reach rural roads and remains fully accessible for wheelchair users and customers with mobility needs.

Tickets

Route 92 will use Stagecoach's standard fare structure, with single tickets costing £3 or less.

Dover DayRider tickets will be valid on this service, unlike on the DRT, and this ticket zone has been extended to include Aylesham. Concessionary passes will still be valid between 09:30 and 23:00 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday (the service will not run on Sunday). Tickets can be bought on the bus or on the Stagecoach Bus App, where you can also plan your journeys and track your bus.

Why the change?

The current on-demand service has helped connect rural areas but isn't used enough to continue in its current form.

By moving to a fixed route with a regular timetable, Dover District Council and Stagecoach South East can keep a local bus service running for Aylesham and surrounding villages.

Starting from Monday 24th November, the first bus from Whitfield Tesco will leave at 06:54, and the last bus will leave at 17:39. From Aylesham Baptist Church, the first bus will leave at 07:24 and the last bus at 18:05.
